From IceWars Documentation
[edit] "You have to build a fleet control centre before your transporters..." - Uh? What is going on?
If you do not understand anything because of lots of abbreviations and words you do not understand, then post a question in the forum or look up here in the abbreviation article.
[edit] Why am I not able to build Space Ships?
Well, first you obviously have to research ships and shipyards before you can build them. Depending on how fast you research and how much the rp already dropped (see research) it might take between a few days and up to 3 or 4 weeks until you can build ships.
If you have already researched a ship, you want to build a one and the text >>ship does not exist<< appears then you forgot to click on the radio button next to the ship you wanted to build. With this you choose the ship you want to build.
[edit] How may I change my planet's name?
Just klick on "colony of..." above your planet's picture on the main page and enter your wished name.
[edit] I have already built an immersion heater/steel works, but I still do not produce any steel/water. What have I done wrong?
Before ice becomes to water and iron to steel you have to click on "transformation" (next to the notepad). There you can adjust how much iron and ice shall be transformed to steel and water. Watch out, that the transformation process also needs lots of energy, additional to the specific resource.
[edit] How may I do research?
Without research laboratories no research! So first build such a nice building (or 2, or 3, or 20). But you have to build an iron mine and a steel plant before it is possible to build a laboratory. And of course, if you have no energy, the researchers don't work, too.
[edit] Where can I find a technology tree?
Simple question, simple answer: There is none! In the game you may see what a research will take by just clicking on it. This runs 2 levels deep, after that it will be a surprise. But one you have to know: The technology tree is gigantic.
Who really can't wait and doesn't want to be surprised can find some in the icewars forum, which are more or less complete. But you shouldn't orient too much on them, because they are based on old rounds and there might be small changes in the tree. Also, since the current one is the first round in English, it might be difficult to find an English techtree, the available ones are all German.
[edit] What do I need a sitter login for?
The sitter login allows somebody, who isn't the account owner, to build something or do research or do some transports.
But a sitter's access is limited. He is not allowed to read messages, change settings, attack others and access the alliance menu.
If a sitter uses the normal mode, then there is the danger to become recognized as multi (somebody who illegally owns more than one account) and becoming deleted.
[edit] Why am I not able to do research any more?
There are some researches that are dependent to some buildings. For example the university, but there are lots more!. But for some researches some others must be done, for example race into space. Additionally there are researches for which some resources are necessary, that of course have to be available. More: doing research
[edit] How fast does my population grow?
The rate is dependent on the population that already exists. That means, the growth rating also increases. But if your population grows over the borders of 1000, 10000 or 100000 people, the growth rate decreases.
As formula:
| up to 1000 inhabitants | growth rate = existing inhabitants/20 |
| up to 10000 inhabitants | growth rate = existing inhabitants/50 |
| more than 100000 inhabitants | growth rate = existing inhabitants/95 |
If suddenly the formula doesn't seem to run and the growth rate gets lower instead of rising, then nearly always it is because of missing living space. Quickly build a house and you will see that the rating again corresponds to the formula.
[edit] My fleet is in the sky over my planet and I want it back!
For this there exists an own article: recall stationed fleet
[edit] How may I get more colonies?
For this also an own article exists: colonization
[edit] What are these diggers and fleeters people keep talking about?
Diggers and fleeters are terms you will come across in relation to alliance tactics. In short, diggers are responsible for gathering resources and fleeters are responsible for building ships. If you take on such a role, it is expected that you choose your government accordingly, which will allow you to enhance your resource gains or ship building abilities. Please refer to Digger/Fleeter_Alliance for more comprehensive information!
