[edit] Construction

Constructing a building is pretty easy, you go to the construction menu, search the building you want to construct and click on "build". However, nearly every building costs some resources and a lot of them need some free workers, without this the building can't be built. Apart from resources and workers, a building needs some time to be constructed, e.g. the Small iron mine needs 3 hours. So, 3 hours after you clicked on "build" the Small iron mine will be done and start producing iron. It will also start using the energy it needs to run.

You can abort a construction by selecting the Selectbox right next to the abort button above all the buildings and then click on abort. Be aware that you will neither get back construction time nor resources! There is a building which will get you back at least a fraction of the resources after aborting, but you will need to research it first.

[edit] Construction queue

After you started constructing your first mine you can immediately click "build" one more time, either building one more mine or another mine. However, different to the first mine, the construction does not start immediately. Instead, you just gave an order to construct this building right after the first one is done. This is called the construction queue. Usually, you can have 1 building in construction and 1 building in queue on every planet. There are possibilities to make your construction queue larger, like the construction workers camp w/ outhouse, however it is not possible to construct more than one building at the same time on a single planet.

Due to bureaucracy and stuff, buildings put into the construction queue will take 10% more time to build and cost 10% more in all resources except for credits.

[edit] Construction bonus minutes

  • How do they work?

The Construction bonus minutes are used to shorten the construction time of your buildings. That means, if you have 60 Construction bonus minutes, the next Small iron mine you click will take 60 minutes less than usual to build, so it's 2:00 hours instead of 3:00. However, every building still takes at least 15 minutes. E.g. if you have 1000 Construction bonus minutes and build a Small iron mine, it will take 15 minutes to build it, and you will use up 2:45 hours (=165 minutes) of your Construction bonus minutes, so you still have 835 bonus minutes. The bonus minutes will also be used for any building you put into the construction queue, so if you build a second iron mine, it will take another 15 minutes and use up 183 bonus minutes (because of the 10% more building time due to the Construction queue) and you will have 637 bonus minutes remaining. The second mine is still not started before the first mine is finished, so both mines together will still take 30 minutes.

  • Where do I get them?

Right at the beginning of the game, you will probably have a number of Construction bonus minutes. During the first 48 hours of a round every minute between the start of the round and your first login is awarded as a Construction bonus minutes, so you don't need to worry too much about logging in and start building as fast as possible. Later, still a fraction of the time since the start of the round is awarded as Construction free minutes.

Also, a few early researches award some bonus minutes.

The war v2 as an option which allows to give back the construction time (or a fraction of it) of every building that was destroyed in the war in the form of Construction bonus minutes after the war is finished.

And last, but not least, later there will be the possibility to pay back every minute when nothing is built on one of your planets as construction bonus minutes. This means that you don't have to worry about losing construction time anymore, however there are several other neat options you could use instead of this one, see genetics
